Our History

Mom Prom was created in Canton, MI in 2006 at St. Thomas a’Becket Catholic Church. It is a ladies’ night out for charity in which women wear their old prom gowns, bridesmaid dresses, or wedding gowns.  It is a real prom with a DJ, a tackiest dress contest, and crowning of the new prom queen. This is a wonderful, hilarious night in which women can dance the night away, have fun with friends, and help a worthy cause. We hope to have ladies’ groups from across the country create their own proms, raising money for charities that are close to their hearts. So, look for that old gown in the back of your closet and get ready to dance, dance, dance while helping those in need.

The Saratoga County Children’s Committee is excited to announce our Tenth Annual Saratoga Mom Prom.  Aside from our incredibly generous supporters in the community and those who donate through our website, the Committee has one yearly fundraiser:  The Saratoga Mom Prom.

The Saratoga County Children’s Committee is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to assisting the children of Saratoga County and beyond with the belief that each child needs to know someone cares. The generosity of our community has allowed us to grow and serve over 900 children each year from emergency and basic needs to school supplies, clothing, holiday gifts and much more.  We work with local agencies including Franklin Community Center, LifeWorks Community Action, Saratoga Mental Health, Saratoga Early Intervention, Social Services, school counselors, and individual social workers.

Over the last nine years, Saratoga Mom Prom has donated $190,000 to women’s and children’s charities in our community.  Our previous recipients include Saratoga Hospital Breast Health Center, Camp Abilities Saratoga, floydwarriors.com, Gateway House of Peace, Community Hospice Wave Riders and Saratoga County Children’s Committee and their programs Special Requests, Empty Stocking Project, Summer Camperships and Back to School Programs.  In honor of our Tenth Annual Prom, we will be making donations to all previous recipients.

Since 2017, we have awarded $15,500 in scholarships in memory of one of our founders, Suzi Ingmire, to senior girls who will continue their education in a field which will benefit children, who is involved in community service and who has met life’s challenges with a positive attitude.
